Helping Others Protect Themselves -
It's What We Do
As we start 2019, those of us at For My Safer World are more focused than ever on helping others protect themselves and their loved ones.
The day after Christmas, a woman came into our retail store in Alamogordo's White Sands Mall. She looked pretty rough: limping; holding her stomach. I could tell she was in a lot of pain.
She told me that her son had beaten her up on Christmas Day and stolen her money to buy meth.
"He's been in prison a lot, so he's used to pepper spray," she said. So pepper spray won't work. I gotta find me something better to use. Otherwise he's gonna kill me."
I showed her a couple of products we carried: our 20 Million Volt Runt stun guns; our new WildFire Pepper Spray; our Mace products; and our Batons.
She looked at me and said, "Sir, I don't have any money right now, but I'm gonna come to your store here real soon. I need somethin', and pepper spray just won't work."
She looked around our store again, and then the left to catch her bus home. She did not want to go home.
I grabbed one our new WildFire Key Chain Pepper Sprays with 1.4% Major Capsaicinoids (MCs) and caught up with her just before she got to the entrance of the mall.
"Ma'am, why don't you go ahead and take this with you today. We'll worry about you paying for it when you come back to the store," I said, as I gave her the package.
"Sir, it won't work. He's been in prison too many times and that pepper spray just won't work."
"I understand," I said. "But this is a new version of Pepper Spray that we carry, and it's the hottest defensive spray on the market. Now, it may not work on your son, but then again, it might. And I would feel better if you took this - just in case."
She thanked me and went out to the bus stop. I remember going back into the store and shaking my head. I felt very sad, and I thought how terrible it is to be afraid to go back to your own home.
The day after New Year's, the same woman walked into our store. She had some packages and she looked fine. She was even smiling.
"I came back to thank you and get something else," she said. "My son tried to beat me up again last night and I used that Pepper Spray you gave me on him.
"He went DOWN!" She said. "I hit him right in the face and he dropped and started rollin' on the floor. He was sratchin' at his eyes and cryin' too.
"So I squirted him again and called the police! He was still on the floor when they got to the trailer. I pressed charges this morning'. I'm not goin' to have to worry about him for awhile."
She bought a Runt 20MV Stun Gun and was still smiling when she left.
It was a great start to the year.
Helping others protect themselves and their loved ones.
That's what we are about....and it's why we do the things we do.
